Americans protest for right to make insurance companies richer
Thousands of protesting Republicans have reiterated that they want all life and death medical decisions made by insurance adjusters, not fiscally irresponsible doctors.
This may be a spoof in the UK, but there is an element of truth in it for the US. US heathcare protesters would rather have a low level clerk in an insurance company deciding life and death issues than their doctors. After all, look at all the crap about "death panels".
I know, it's iniquitous isn't it? Apologies for the satirical article, but we Brits are prone to handle outrageous circumstances and gross imbalance with humour. But you're right: for the people of the US, getting proper access to healthcare-at-the-point-of-need is a lottery and certainly no laughing matter.
I guess your Republican politicians have to come clean and state who and what they value most: the "contributions" they accept from Big Medicine lobbyists to do their bidding, or the lives of their fellow citizens...? They can't serve two masters.
Welcome! Willkommen! Merhaba! Shalom! Bienvenue! Bienvenidos! etc.
So, you've had a hard day sifting through life's nit comb for any meaning to the day - either that, or the last 10 minutes slaving over a hot microwave trying to create one of your signature dishes - and you now need to relax and have a laugh.
Welcome to Cosmic Navel Lint - where life's small irritations are put into perspective. Feel free to comment and ask questions!
NB: Sorry to break the news to you, but unless otherwise imagined, none of what follows is set to music - that Polka's only inside your head!
Polite, accommodating, flexible, erudite and warm - are all ways in which people have described my twin brother. My name's Bren Tierney, I'm a native of the UK and find life and people endlessly enthralling - usually to the point of amusement. Here's where I write about it.
